M4P Tutors – Providing online Tuition

Some of our tutors are are providing online tuition or other musical offerings for the foreseeable future. As live music is probably one of the very last things that will be happening following lockdown please help support them to earn a living during this difficult time.

Pete Lee

Recorded jazz & pop piano accompaniments:

I would like to offer recorded jazz piano accompaniments to instrumentalists and vocalists alike, with bespoke elements like tempo, key, and arrangement - all recorded at home, according to their needs and preferences. These can be used as a practice tool, or an accompaniment to their own recordings. Whilst on lockdown, we all miss simply playing with someone else!! But I hope this helps!

Lessons in Jazz I am also offering one-to-one lessons over Zoom. I can assist in harmony, jazz piano technique and arranging & composition skills.

Students who are interested should email me at: peteleemusic@gmail.com

Fees: As per the MU, I will charge £35 per hour.

Rob Gildon

Explore your Voice! Online Workshop Wednesdays 7.15-8.15, £8 session Join Lynsey and Rob for a 5-week course exploring a wide variety of song repertoire, learning with 2 coaches, working on technique and having great fun choreographing with a community of singers online. In their inimitable style, the duo channel their tried and tested light-hearted but focussed approach to getting the best out of your vocal performance skills whilst in lockdown. Following requests to help maintain and advance vocal health and mental well-being as choirs face the sad consequences of COVID and social distancing, we aim to contribute to your musical development. Focus of the course: Learn 2 new songs a week – melody plus harmony options (music theatre, classical, folk, jazz, pop) Practice in between with recordings from Lynsey and Rob (opportunity to harmonise) Work on vocal technique and warm-ups to keep you limbered up at home Choreograph the songs online, led by you, the participants Interactive community, ask questions, try out a solo! Places are limited, first come first served. Click here to book online
About Us: Between them, the pair have led singing projects for a host of national organisations including the Royal Opera House, Streetwise Opera, Aldeburgh, Snape Maltings, Dorset Opera, County Music Hubs, orchestras, festivals and theatres.

George Sleightholme

This video by my group iyatraQuartet. We launched our album Break the Dawn on YouTube with a 'Live Listen Along' on YouTube with videos, insights and artwork by the band. Playing time: 1 hour. Grab a drink and join us for the ride! https://youtu.be/hpQgkA4cn84

Clarinet choir

Early in lock-down we set up a virtual clarinet choir, with George Sleightholme at the helm. 13 clarinettists signed up to the challenge. We are using Zoom to play together and we “meet" once a week. It has been a lot of fun! We have put a recording of some of our work on the M4P FaceBook page. If you’re interested in joining us PM Judi Stockwell on FaceBook.

Richard Ormrod

I’ve been recording whole band ‘playalong’ world/jazz tracks in albums, which are available on Bandcamp on a strict PWYW basis. Anyone who gets an album or track can have all the necessary charts and ‘crib sheets’ to go with it, and everything is suitable for all wind/brass/keys/gtrs/bs/dms - I’m very happy to make parts for any less common instruments - there’s nothing specifically for vocalists yet...

The page is called Stanley Quarantine:

https://stanleyquarantine.bandcamp.com/ and people who sign up to follow get a free bonus tune!

Love to all,

Richard

Lauren Kinsella

I would be very happy to give zoom singing lessons online for any M4P students that are interested. They can get in touch via my website contact form on https://www.laurenkinsella.com where I will respond and I look forward to hearing from them!

If you have a busker book in the house and want to get more out of it, Julian is currently teaching students how to interpret piano leadsheets (eg simple melodies with chord symbols) in all styles from Elton John and John Williams through to sophisticated jazz harmony. Feel free to contact me for an initial infomal chat. 07717855305 or info@julianmartin.co.uk
